An exciting position has become available for an experienced tax senior to join a growing nationwide group of accountants with a local office based in St Helens, Merseyside. The successful candidate will earn a market rate salary dependent on skills, qualifications, and experience.

As well as being able to demonstrate your substantial self-assessment tax experience and abilities, you should be able to communicate and provide support to your line manager and clients on a regular basis.

The role is primarily a full-time one, although there is some flexibility with hours for the right candidate.

The firm offers a flexible working policy subject to business needs; this includes an early finish on a Friday where preferred and a working from home option where appropriate.

Brief Job Description

Preparing self assessment returns for directors, sole traders, partnerships and rental businesses and simple year-end accounts for a variety of clients including complex high net worth clients, using tax software

Assisting with P11D preparation and HMRC compliance

Ensuring self assessment returns are submitted in accordance HMRC deadlines

Dealing with client queries via phone, email and in person where required

Managing your own small portfolio of clients subject to the general oversight of your line manager

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements for the role

The successful applicant must possess the following skills:

• Fully or part-qualified with appropriate technical qualification and with at least 3 years’ experience in practice and working to a high level

• Able to produce a final SA return to a good level for manager review

• Experience in capital gains tax, sole trader, partnerships and rental accounts

• Up to date with income and capital gains tax compliance training and CPD requirements

• Experience of using tax software to an advanced level

• Working knowledge of Excel and word

• Good knowledge of business tax matters

• Strong communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• Knowledge of CCH personal tax software – preferred but training will be provided if competent on another tax/accountancy software

• Knowledge of Sage accountancy software preferred (training can be provided if needed)
