Workshop Manager

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week 07:30 to 16:00 Monday/Thursdsday 07:30 to 13:00 Fridays

Salary: £43,000 – £50,000 + generous benefits package

Location: Lowestoft

The Team

Leading the Manufacturing Team to ensure timely and efficient delivery to meet production schedule, working closely with the Projects/Project Support teams.

The Role

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the manufacturing department, organising, planning and managing production of custom engineered equipment within time and budget targets. Working to ISO 9001/45001 standards to ensure Quality & Health & Safety guidance is adhered to. Effective leadership of team to promote effective communication and cooperation within a strong team culture. The role is varied and challenging, suiting someone who is highly motivated and organised with strong communication skills.

Key Duties

The key duties will include but are not limited to the following:

* Manage best use of resource to complete works in line with schedule and monitor efficiency within production process

* Recruit, train and develop a motivated and skilled workshop team

* Manage resource demands and develop capability through coaching and mentoring across teams

* Support a strong team culture, embed effective communication and knowledge sharing across the team in line with company values

* Promote a continuous improvement ethos in the technology, processes and systems used

* Ensure best practice and compliance with health, safety and quality standards, taking action to prevent breaches and minimise risk

* Effective communication and engagement in project reviews to ensure clarity of progress and priorities across the wider team

* Liaise with other departments on manufacturing feedback to support design development and drive continuous improvement

* Identify scope for product, process or operational improvement opportunities

The Candidate:

The successful candidate must have:

* Experience in a manufacturing/production management role, demonstration of managing engineering quality standards and supporting technical developments

* Proven track record of delivering manufacturing programme on time and within budget

* Strong engineering focus

* Experience of team leadership and development

* Solution oriented, strong problem-solving skills and focus on continuous improvement

* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages

* Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
