Production Supervisor

Advantage are currently recruiting for a Production Supervisor, for one of our manufacturing clients, based in the Leeds area.

The successful candidate MUST have previous experience within a print background. This is a straight permanent role for the right candidate.

The primary objective of the Production Supervisor is to improve machine efficiency and maintain optimum run speeds. Control and coordinate production to run in accordance with customer deadlines whilst ensuring profitability of the business in accordance with the quotation. Supervise Production employees: Printers, Pre-Press, Rewinders and Labourers and in form Group Operations Director of any issues.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities, Duties will include but will not be limited to

* Help Print Operators with make readies and wash up procedures.

* Cover any breaks so that the machine is maned 100% of the shift time where possible.

* Pass/sign off all printed work and report any issues to the Group Operations Director.

* Supervise day to day operations of the Production team; ensure that all goals are met during each shift by reading and monitoring the IDC logins, check on make readies, wash up and runs with the Group Operations Director.

* Check the average run speeds of each job and then liaise with Group Operations Director.

* Promote continuous improvement 5S/SMED.

* Look for ways to promote @Pit Stop Mentality’ by reading and monitoring daily IDC comments.

* Supervise the BRC/ISO quality control programs in place with regard to the Clean as you go policy.

* Ensure the HACCP guidelines in the OPM HACCP manual are followed.

* Liaise with other departments, e.g. QA, Repro, Customer Services, and Dispatch.

* To fully participate as a Dept, Site and group team member.

* Contribute to a work environment that fosters pride in being part of a winning team and promotes personal growth.

* Ensure cleaning is done by all members of the shop floor accurately (Daily BRC).

* Weekend work will occasionally be required.

* Cover shift partners holiday when necessary.

QA

* Supervise quality control programs to ensure that all products manufactured function properly and are free of defects.

Additional/Key Skills

* Good understanding of print, communication skills, good organisational skills

* Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Tharstern to a competent level.

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, Managers and the general public.

* Communicate and liaise verbally and in writing between customers/suppliers and visitors’ enquiries and relevant staff, and interpret and respond clearly and effectively to spoken requests over the phone or in person, and to verbal or written instructions.

* Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role. Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills and train/mentor production employees as required.

* Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures.

* Be reactive to problems – when in doubt ask for help. In responding to complaints and implications, you should initially respond with immediate solution to resolve the current issue and then arrange with the Customer Service/Rep and QA how best to develop and agree a remedial change that will prevent re-occurrence by involving all relevant staff – this can be a chance to consolidate and strengthen the relationship with the customer and normally an opportunity to extend the length of the contract.

Hours of work

The candidate will be starting on a day shift whilst training, then moving onto a 3 shift rotating system which will be:

Early shift – 37½hrs/week – working Monday to Friday – 6am to 2pm Monday to Thursday and 6am to 12.45pm on a Friday.

Late shift – 37½hrs/week – working Monday to Friday – 2pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday and 12.45pm to 7.30pm on a Friday.

Night shift – 38¾hrs/week – working Sunday to Thursday – 10pm to 6 am
